Presstek, Inc. a leading supplier of digital offset printing solutions to the printing and communications industries, announced that it will be offering a wide range of new capabilities for its flagship 75DI digital offset press at drupa 2012. Presstek will be located in Hall 4 Stand 4B03 at the show, where the company will also have on display its broad range of thermal digital plates. During drupa, Presstek will feature a five color 75DI with an inline aqueous coater equipped with its new Virtuoso Print Quality System.

We continue to enhance our flagship product, the 75DI digital offset press, said Stan Freimuth, Presstek’s Chairman, President & CEO. This breakthrough press, with its digital file to printed sheet in 6 minutes and 300 lpi/stochastic screening print quality, is already the most efficient digital offset press in the world. By continuing to expand its capabilities, Presstek is demonstrating its commitment to growing our portfolio to meet the needs of larger printers, who often have complex requirements and pursue a broader range of applications.

Virtuoso Print Quality System

Presstek Virtuoso is an innovative inline colour management and defect detection system for the Presstek 75DI digital offset press. Virtuoso enhances the innate quality of the Presstek 75DI by performing a complete inspection of each sheet as it passes through the press at full speed. Continuous and automated inspection saves time and money while producing a higher quality more stable print run.

New Presstek 75DI Configurations Available

At drupa, Presstek will announce three exciting new configurations for the 75DI product line.

    •    Automatic Convertible Perfecting. A perfecting device on the 75DI can be automatically converted between normal printing and perfecting, with minimal time loss for the conversion. Up to 10 towers can be included in the perfecting configuration.
    •    UV Curing and Coating A UV curing unit can be installed over the impression cylinder of each unit, making possible high-value-added printing on specialty substrates such as film, metalized paper and other non-absorptive media, as well as lenticular printing. An inline UV coater can be added as well, allowing for eye-catching high shine, abrasion resistant finishes.
    •    75DI Personalization Option?Presstek will be offering printers the ability to add inkjet heads to the B2 format 75DI press. This new capability will enable printers to be more competitive with their variable data service offering. All 75DI presses with personalization capability will be specially configured to each client’s needs.

The Presstek 75DI is a highly automated 29” (75 cm) digital offset press that is available with a full range of productivity enhancing options, including an inline aqueous coater. The 75DI features support for 300 lpi and FM screening, 6-minute job-to-job turnover (including on-press plate imaging), and a small environmental footprint. The press prints up to 16,000 six-up sheets or 96,000 letter-sized pages per hour.

We believe this line-up of new features and options for the 75DI pushes it ahead of anything else in its class available on the market in terms of productivity, profitability and versatility, added Freimuth. We are excited to share these enhancements with visitors to our stand, and to speak with them one-on-one about their specific business requirements.
