Lombardi Customer Installs Fourth Printing Press
Lombardi's Invicta i1 670 is ideally suited to bridge the gap between traditional label production and wider web flexible packaging applications.

A new Lombardi Invicta i1 670 printing press, which will be installed at Carby Label’s production facility in Casamassima (Bari), represents far more than another production investment. It is the confirmation of a partnership built on trust and, at the same time, a symbol of Italian manufacturing continuing to evolve by investing in innovation, engineering expertise, and technologies designed and built entirely in Italy.

In an increasingly competitive printing and converting industry, the decision to purchase a fourth Lombardi press carries a deeper meaning. It reflects years of successful collaboration, shared achievements, and mutual confidence, elements that now enable Carby Label to take a significant step toward expanding its presence in the flexible packaging market.

With its 670 mm web width, the Invicta i1 670 is ideally suited to bridge the gap between traditional label production and wider web flexible packaging applications, allowing converters to diversify their business while maintaining the efficiency, quality, and versatility of inline flexographic technology.

‘Every new press sold to a long-standing customer is the greatest recognition we can receive,’ said Enrico Gandolfi, Italy Sales Director at Lombardi Converting Machinery. ‘Carby Label’s decision to invest in Lombardi once again confirms the strength of a partnership built over many years and founded on tangible results. This new Invicta i1 670 will support the company’s expansion into the flexible packaging market, a segment in which Lombardi continues to strengthen its presence and reputation both in Italy and internationally.’

For Lombardi, this installation also represents a positive signal for the entire Italian manufacturing industry. At a time when reshoring, shorter supply chains, and European industrial expertise are increasingly becoming strategic priorities, the collaboration between two Italian companies demonstrates how innovation can continue to thrive within the country’s manufacturing ecosystem.

‘Seeing a customer choose our technology for the fourth time is a source of great pride,’ commented Lorenzo Lombardi, Managing Director of Lombardi Converting Machinery. ‘When a customer decides to invest in the same manufacturer again, it means the relationship has grown far beyond the purchase of a machine. It reflects trust, reliability, and our ability to continuously develop technologies that help our customers grow. We strongly believe in Italian manufacturing, and partnerships like the one with Carby Label demonstrate that Made in Italy continues to stand for innovation, engineering excellence, and global competitiveness.’

From the customer’s perspective, the investment is driven by clear production objectives and the ambition to respond to evolving market demands.

‘We decided to invest in the Invicta i1 670 to double our production capacity and better meet the needs of our customers in the fruit and vegetable packaging sector,’ explained Anna Carbonara, Marketing Manager at Carby Label. ‘What we value most about Lombardi is the reliability of its presses and their outstanding printing performance in terms of both quality and speed. These are essential characteristics that allow us to continue delivering high production standards while remaining competitive in a rapidly evolving market.’

The Invicta i1 platform has become one of Lombardi Converting Machinery’s flagship technologies for inline flexographic printing. Designed to deliver high automation, fast job changeovers, outstanding print consistency, and maximum production flexibility, the 670 mm configuration offers converters an ideal opportunity to expand into the flexible packaging market while maintaining the productivity and efficiency required by today’s industry.

This fourth installation at Carby Label therefore represents much more than another press sale. It tells the story of two Italian manufacturers investing in each other, strengthening domestic industrial know-how while competing successfully on the international stage. In a global market where innovation and resilience are increasingly decisive, partnerships like this demonstrate that Made in Italy is not simply a mark of origin, it is a manufacturing philosophy built on trust, technology, and a shared vision for the future.
