Van As will install two brand new Komori offset presses. Van As is not a printer that stands still. Over the decades, the company has continually expanded its expertise, and this is reflected in the type of work it takes on today.
Point-of-sale materials for supermarkets, printed on transparent films, metallised papers, and recycled plastics up to 1.0 mm thick: these are applications that were barely possible ten or twenty years ago. UV inks and coaters have changed that, and Van As has embraced that technological evolution from the very start.
Managing Director Wouter van As said, ‘We have been printing difficult-to-process materials for years. On our new Komori presses, we are able to print on various recycled plastics up to a thickness of 1.0 mm, that is where we make the difference.’
The current presses have served the company excellently for many years, but the time for replacement has come. Following a thorough comparison of three leading brands and an intensive testing process, the choice fell on Komori. The timing was perfect: just as the decision was made, Komori introduced the brand-new GLX 529 HUV/C model, a machine that raises the technological bar yet again.
‘This new press fits perfectly into our plan to replace two presses in one go,’ said Wouter van As. ‘With Komori, we are bringing in a new brand that suits our order portfolio best. The technical support from Komori was excellent, and the collaboration with AtéCé proved to be the deciding factor.’
The Komori Lithrone GX29 advance is built for printers who want to get the most out of their production potential. With a maximum speed of 16,500 sheets per hour, optimal sheet transport, and excellent compatibility with demanding substrates, from synthetic materials to heavy board, the press aligns seamlessly with Van As’s ambitions. The maximum format of 610 × 750mm also offers excellent opportunities for the efficient layout of a wide variety of jobs.
In addition, the advance series is equipped with three eco-conscious features: Smart Inking Flow, DC Blowers, and e-Mist, which reduce energy consumption, limit paper waste, and cut CO₂ emissions. Komori thereby demonstrates that top productivity and sustainability need not be mutually exclusive, and that is precisely the combination Van As was looking for.
‘The technical team at Komori helped us tremendously and convinced us that we had made the right choice. The fact that AtéCé also played a crucial role in this was the deciding factor, both parties, each in their own right, gave us the confidence that this was the right step.’
