Dscoop EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) has announced its prestigious line-up of keynote speakers for the Dscoop Open Conference (3-5 June, at the Dublin Conference Centre, Ireland). These industry-leading figures will address a number of the sector’s hot topics, supporting this year’s conference theme, ‘Driving Profitability’.

Alon Bar-Shany, Vice President and General Manager, HP, Indigo Division, will deliver the opening address, ‘Growing Profitability: Achieving a Hole in One’. With examples of best practice gleaned from his global travels and HP’s vision of digital print, he will discuss the drivers to success in today’s and tomorrow’s markets.

The second day will feature Mark Stevenson, entrepreneur, author, broadcaster and expert on global trends and innovation. Mark is the author of the best-selling ‘An Optimist’s Tour of the Future’ and has written for a number of well-respected papers and journals too. In addition, he sits on various advisory boards, one of which is of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Earth Challenge. Mark’s talk, ‘The Big Shift’, will argue that the digital revolution was ‘just a trailer’ for what is coming, and that humanity faces fundamental changes that will rival the Industrial Revolution.

The closing address will be delivered by Andrew Davis, co-founder of Tippingpoint Labs, which influences the way publishers think and how brands market their products. Andrew’s 20-year career has seen him work for The Muppets in New York, write for Charles Kuralt and market for tiny start-ups as well as Fortune 500 brands. In his presentation, ‘The Future of Digital Is Print’, Andrew will maintain that technology isn’t killing print, but publishers are; and that rethinking print and mobile strategies is where future success lies.

This year’s conference will also feature the first meeting of ‘Dscoop Young Entrepreneurs’, a gathering of delegates 35 years old and under. A special lunchtime session will be held on 4 June, where participants can hear from successful young entrepreneurs as well as have the opportunity to network with like-minded peers.

‘Involving younger industry members in Dscoop is an excellent way for them to hear global industry leaders; meet with them informally, and build relationships that can last through their careers,’ said Jon Tolley, Dscoop EMEA Chairman. ‘The future depends on having enthusiastic and knowledgeable young people to drive new ideas and approaches to business.’

Also at the Dublin event, Dscoop EMEA will welcome Scodix Ltd as a Diamond Partner. In addition to participating in the Solutions Showcase, Scodix will also present a Partner Session at which it will show how print enhancements can add value and differentiate products for customers while creating a new revenue stream for print businesses.

‘Dscoop members are, almost by definition, innovative forward thinking companies who understand the need to differentiate the services they offer their clients,’ said Amit Shvartz, VP Marketing Scodix. ‘As we will discuss in our Partner Session, Scodix digital enhancement is an obvious solution for them, that can help these companies retain customers, attract new clients and stay profitable in a highly competitive business. We have been members of Dscoop for many years and never cease to be impressed by the quality of the events and the attendees.’

Other scheduled seminars will look at all aspects of digital printing from automation and workflow, to labels and packaging, folding carton, photo, direct mail and publishing applications. Additionally, there will be the chance to learn about opportunities in large-format printing, enabled by HP Latex Ink Technologies. One other key session will be on how brands see and use print, and speaking at this session will be Ian Schofield from Iceland Foods and Greg Bentley from Coca Cola.

‘The Dscoop Open is bringing together the latest technologies and thinking in the world of digital print, with new initiatives and opportunities driving profitability and personal development,’ said Peter van Teeseling, Dscoop EMEA Director. ‘It’s an event for everyone in the digital printing sector, whether they have long experience, or are new to the industry, the Dublin Dscoop EMEA conference should be on their schedules.’
