Robert Bosch South Africa (RBSA) launched its Packaging Technologies division on 1 November. The newest division is located at the companys head office in Midrand, where media participated in a tour of the plant and a demonstration of the machines.

Bosch Packaging Technology South Africa is responsible for assembly sales, marketing and technical service for the region of Southern Africa, which includes Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Swaziland, Lesotho and Mozambique.

After seeing the opportunities in South Africa, the board of Bosch Packaging Technology decided to open an assembly plant in South Africa to add local value with Bosch-imported entry level machines, said Jean Pierre Clerc, Manager of the Packaging Technology Division in SA.

The division offers entry model form, fill and seal machines and mid-speed candy wrappers. The range of services includes complete service packages and customised systems and the single module.

Bosch Packaging Technology South Africa also represents overseas high-end machinery for confectionery, food and pharmaceuticals. The division is active in biscuits, chocolates, snacks, candies and powder industries to name a few.

This new process is more efficient and can be customised according to the specific needs of clients. This is also more cost effective as the machines can be used on the premises as required. We are very excited about this new division and aim to bring the established Bosch quality and innovation to the packaging industry, said Clerc.

We believe that our relationship with our customers comes first, and we therefore place their needs at the top of our list of priorities, with total transparency in business conduct and delivery of excellent services, added Clerc.

The companys new generation of machines includes the TERRA 25/TERRA 40 which is ideal for a wide range of products including powders, grains, snacks and confectionary, and the BVK 1200 candy wrapping machine with an output of 1200 candy packs per minute. It can be used for round, oval, square, rectangular and spherical candy.
