Kemtek Imaging Systems hosted a live webinar on 6 August. The webinar not only provided insight of what’s ahead in the world of digital label printing, but also hosted Colin Sinclair McDermott, also known as The Online Print Coach.
McDermott is known across the global print community for helping print businesses grow smarter, not harder, by shifting from selling to advising. His session outlined a range of topics such as: turning a print expertise into client magnetism; why most printers fail on social media, and how to win instead; content formula that turns browsers into buyers; a blueprint for educational selling that builds trust and closes deals; and easy tools to save time and amplify reach. He was also available to answer questions throughout the live session.
During the webinar he emphasised on the ‘do’s and don’ts’ when it comes to strategic marketing, particularly for growing a print business. For example, he outlined the importance of understanding the customer, as well as their pain points and aspirations, ‘If you don’t know your customer you can’t create marketing that speaks to them.
Key Takeaways
‘Marketing is about building relationships, not just making sales. If you nurture your customers properly, they will not only buy more, but they will refer others to you as well.’
He also spoke about the importance of effective content marketing, ‘Great content helps your print business stand out in a sea of sameness. It sets you up as a thought leader and positions you as a true partner, not just a print supplier.’
With social media, he outlined numerous reasons for its efficiency. It builds awareness where people already spend their time. You stay top-of-mind with existing customers (and prospects). It humanises your brand and gives buyers a reason to care. It’s a powerful amplifier for your best content, offers, and client stories. It is also an ideal platform research as it enables the effective gathering and tracking of relevant data.
‘Social media isn’t just about posting, it’s about moving people from awareness to action and turning customers into advocates.
Next on the agenda, a video was shown of two HP Indigo innovations for attendees to get insights and view demos, one of which was the 200K digital press: one of the fastest HP Indigo presses for flexible packaging. It features a 56m per minute print speed, and is ideal for standup pouches, sachets, sling sleeves and flow wraps. The other, the HP Indigo 6K+ digital press, offers nearly any application imaginable and meet the needs of the world’s most creative brands.
Not shown on video during the presentation, but to be included alongside the 200K and 6K+ at this year’s LabelExpo is the HP Indigo V12 digital press, the first press to utilise the new industry-altering LEPx technology. It is a narrow-web label press, printing at 120 linear meters per minute with all the capabilities of HP Indigo’s technology for label production.
Visitors can learn more during Labelexpo Europe 2025, taking place in Barcelona from 16-19 September. The webinar concluded with a brief Q&A session.
