Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AGs (Heidelberg) drupa booth has won the red dot award: communication design 2012. Heidelberg and its design agency partner KMS BLACKBOX from Munich won the award in the Event Design – Trade Fairs category.

The award was presented by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia Design Centre). This year, the international panel of judges assessed 6823 entries from 43 countries in a total of 21 categories.

At this years drupa, which took place from May 3 to 16, 2012 in Düsseldorf, Heidelberg was the only manufacturer to showcase integrated solutions for commercial and packaging printing geared specifically to current market requirements. Its presentation under the banner Discover HEI covered an area of around 6300sqm in Hall 1. The booth concept incorporated two key elements of the print media industry – printing plates and type – which also helped people find their way around. Visitors to the booth loved the new yet familiar surroundings and experiences.

The more than 3000 printing plates making up the presentation had already been imaged and, as such, also reflected the strategy of sustainability adopted by Heidelberg. In fact, the entire booth had a neutral carbon footprint. We are delighted the trade show design devised by our professional and creative partner KMS BLACKBOX proved such a hit with our target groups. Winning the red dot design award is a great honor for us and an incentive to continue focusing on outstanding customer communication, said Adriana Nuneva, Head of Global Marketing and Communications.
