The company has reached the final round in the Technology category of the Innovation Award of the German Printing Industry for the second time. The innovative solution to produce contract-quality proofs for flexible package printing, consisting of ORIS Color Tuner // Web and printers of the Roland VersaCAMM series, was nominated and selected as one of ten finalists.
For the first time, this years final award winners will be determined in an online poll. The configuration allows for the production of even complex film packaging, including white and metallic spot colours, quickly and cost-efficiently, in contract proof quality.
To come close to the look and feel of the final product, the company now also offers a large spectrum of different media, specifically developed for this application, giving a very large gamut on Roland printers with ecosolvent inks. Among others, these are highly transparent clear films, metallised films and PEcoated glossy papers.
Compared to legacy systems, there are cost savings of over 90% per proof and at the same time, a better colour accuracy and usability. The solution addresses the specific complex requirements of the packaging industry. Even the production of shrink foils and labels is possible and can be directly cut in the machine. The system is capable of producing contone and halftone proofs, whereby 1-Bit files can be printed directly.

The nominated solution will be shown at several exhibitions, including Proflex in Stuttgart, on September 20 – 21, 2011.
