Antalis South Africa (Pty) Ltd has partnered with the Zululand Observer to install a Kodak Trendsetter News with Prinergy Evo and Gecko Processor.

We are exceptionally pleased with this installation because we believe that it is by installing the state of the art computer to plate system is just what the award-winning organisation deserves, Said Phil O’Flattery of Antalis.

The Zululand Observer is a bi-weekly newspaper catering exclusively for Zululanders. Zululand is the traditional region in the north-eastern section of Kwa-Zulu-Natal. It is home to the Zulu people and the site of their 19th-century kingdom. The area has two major commercial crops of sugarcane and cotton.

Founded in 1969 by Regina Anthony, the Zululand Observer is the largest publishing house in its area of distribution. Initially established in Empangeni, it has grown to house eight publications.

Still at the helm, Editor-in-Chief Regina guides her staff complement of 70 to produce the highly sought after titles. Totally committed to the daily running of the organisation Regina was recently awarded the national coveted award from Sanlam as The doyen of the community press in Southern Africa for her endeavours to enhance the medium and raise the standards of journalism.

We have worked with the Zululand Observer for more than 24 years now during which we’ve built up an exceptionally close working relationship. In 2000 we installed an Auto logic image setter with an online Glunz & Jensen film processor. We also service and maintain their equipment, said O’Flattery.

Personally I think that the Trendsetter is the ideal computer-to-plate solution for the Observer. The equipment has three automation options drastically reducing the plate making time. It is very easy to use, offers excellent image quality and is incredibly stable providing accurate, repeatable imaging for fewer plate remakes, less adjustments in prepress which ultimately improves business, concluded O’Flattery.
