UPM RAFLATAC LAUNCHES COLLABORATIVELY-DEVELOPED BPA-FREE THERMALS

1021

UPM Raflatac, scale manufacturer METTLER TOLEDO and French label printer Eticplus have partnered to develop an innovative weigh-price solution already selling to two hypermarket chains and destined for stores throughout Europe. The collaboratively developed thermal label stock delivers multiple advantages: the absence of Bisphenol A, an FSC-certified face paper, a solvent-free adhesive and a fully recyclable, thinner PP backing.

I dreamed of a product that was both BPA-free and also had environmental advantages, said Davy Tudela, Director of label printer Eticplus. When UPM Raflatac showed up with their ProLiner PP30 coupled with a BPA-free thermal face, I saw the commercial potential immediately.

Environmentally sound, safer labels

Weigh-scale manufacturer METTLER TOLEDO, working with Eticplus since 2009, wanted to offer clients a one-stop solution by developing the labelling side of their business.

Bruno Goudard, Business Development Manager, Retail, was motivated to inject some innovation, especially where sustainable development is concerned, and come up with an attractive product both for our clients and those using our products.

A solution for weigh-scales all over Europe

Pilots have been carried out at around 15 stores throughout France, and Eticplus and METTLER TOLEDO are incorporating the FSC-certified, BPA-free labelling products into their Green range.

Eticplus sees plenty of scope for further development in France and abroad, and METTLER TOLEDO shares this optimism.
