The Scodix Ultra 101 press supports up to six different Scodix applications, including variable data, foiling, Scodix Metallic™, Scodix Cast&Cure™, Scodix Glitter™ and Scodix Sense™ raised printing enhancements, adding exponential digital value to standard 2D prints.

Ontario-based Wholesale Pocket Folders & Trade Only Folders (WPF), a subsidiary of APD Printing, has announced the installation of a new Scodix Ultra 101 digital enhancement press. The press will support their finishing capabilities in the production of food labels and product shelf packaging, saddle stitched and perfect bound promotion materials and literature, as well as various other printing products.

Founded in 2001, by the father and son team of Gregory and Luis Perez, APD is headquartered about an hour outside Toronto in Brantford, Ontario. The migrant family-based business has built their reputation on delivering superior quality and high-value to national and international graphic designers and outlet commercial printers (i.e. Minute Man Press, Kwik Copy), as well as small independent service providers and resellers. The new embellishment press promises to greatly enhance their finishing capabilities.

‘Delivering value-priced quality has been the foundation for our success, especially in the pocket folder market,’ noted APD General Manager Luis Perez. ‘Our production team continues to take quality to the next level, and the Scodix press will enable us to go even further.’

‘We came to Canada with an extensive printing background. Traditionally, we have produced raised embossing effects by standard analogue spot UV and foil stamping methods. We are constantly in search of improved workflow and output tools. Although we’ve only just installed the Scodix system, we are already very comfortable with how much easier and production-friendly these enhancements now become.’

‘It helps that clients have been pushing us in this direction, and then we saw Scodix at an industry trade show. We did our comparison shopping and it became obvious that it was the Scodix offering that best matched our production needs. Being able to provide this type of in-house finishing allows us to shorten turnaround and offer so much more, in the way of capabilities. We recently applied some enhancements to our own advertising, as well as a few smaller jobs, and the feedback has been overwhelming. You simply cannot compare the reaction it generates with any other finishing techniques.’
