Ricoh Europe has won two Oracle Excellence Awards, which recognise the efficient and sustainable manner in which Ricoh has built a new IT infrastructure to support its operations in EMEA.

It was given the Eco-Enterprise Innovation Award – with recognition also given to business partner Infosys – and the 2012 Chief Sustainability Officer Award, presented to Ian Winham, CIO and CFO at Ricoh Europe.

The new ERP platform and private cloud implementation have resulted in the removal of approximately 1600 servers and a related 85% reduction in Ricohs carbon footprint and energy consumption –  equivalent to taking 3500 cars off the road each year, said Richard Pinker, MD of Ricoh SA. We are following suit in our region and also beginning to see these steps pay dividends.

The transformation of Ricoh’s IT infrastructure was led by its focus to streamline EMEA business processes, enhance its customer service and support the growth of its capabilities in managed document services (MDS), IT services, and production printing.

This process is helping Ricoh to meet future client needs, support future business development, and simultaneously contribute to Ricoh’s global environment targets. Ricoh is committed to reducing energy consumption by 87,5%, by 2050, compared with actual levels in 2000.

A key part of the implementation strategy was to provide a single EMEA regional environment to manage client information and enable customers and staff to access documents, software, and other business applications securely and easily from anywhere across the region. Ricoh is confident it is also meeting the most stringent data processing requirements in Europe by adhering to Germany’s rigorous rules on data security.

Ian Winham, CIO and CFO of Ricoh Europe, said, The project team successfully implemented one of the largest IT projects in our company history to enhance our client services across EMEA. In addition, we have met our key goals to contribute to Ricoh’s global energy reduction targets whilst being secure, robust and efficient. We are now in an excellent position to further expand the cloud based services we are offering to our clients across EMEA.
