Ricoh SA has appointed Vaughan Patterson as sales manager of its production printing business group. Patterson has more than 20 years of experience in various facets of the high volume industry as end user, distributor, and vendor.

He joins Ricoh SA from Antalis where he spent seven years. Before that he was at Oce Printing Systems as national service manager for five years and prior to that Standard Banks IT department.

Ricoh SA represents a significant growth opportunity for me and an opportunity to grow its share of the high volume, production equipment market, said Patterson. Its a market with which Im familiar, I understand the requirements that our customers have, having been one myself, and I know how we can meet those needs. This is also an exciting time to join Ricoh SA as the new products and solutions announced at drupa 2012 position it to take advantage of the evolving production market. My appointment also comes at a time when the companys internal process updates and business efficiency projects have it poised to meet the challenges of operating in a unified global market, in a harsh economic climate, while it continues to meet its corporate responsibilities and deepen its involvement in environmental awareness and responsibilities.

Patterson has a team of salespeople and more than 20 technicians with experience in input, output and finishing options.

The InfoPrint 5000 family is obviously our most important range of production inkjet printers and within that are the general production platform, multipurpose platform, and volume platform that allow our corporate and commercial print customers to reinvent their businesses to take advantage of new client demands, said Patterson. These platforms mean they can offer books, direct mail, and critical communications that requiresome form of regulatory compliance and security. There are many markets in South Africa that require those types of applications, not least of which is education.

Pattersons team also helps customers, where appropriate, with experience in data analytics, workflow automation, automated documents, marketing, and integration of legacy print with new technologies for seamless, Web-to-print workflow.
