Printing SA recently partnered with Novus Print, City Deep to host learners from Forest High School for an engaging Career Day at their plant. These initiatives are designed to showcase how the printing and packaging industry can offer exciting and viable career pathways for Grade 12 learners in their final year of schooling.
‘The enthusiasm shown by the learners was truly inspiring,’ said Abisha Katerere, Head of Business Development and Marketing at Printing SA. ‘Their curiosity, intelligence and energy to learn highlighted the immense potential that exists within our young people. It was encouraging to see so many of them beginning to view our sector as a meaningful and rewarding career destination.’
Nkgopoleng High School from the Vaal joined the session virtually. Printing SA look forward to welcoming them in person in the near future.
This opportunity was made possible through Printing SA’s continued partnership with the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, who work closely with Printing SA to ensure that learners, particularly those in more remote areas, are exposed to the same opportunities as their counterparts in urban centres.
‘We were further delighted to host the Vaal University of Technology’s Technology Transfer and Innovation Faculty, who demonstrated the exciting world of 3D printing to learners. Their presentation highlighted how students can pursue tertiary education through the institution and build careers by developing innovative and bespoke solutions using this technology.’
‘As always, our Diamond Sponsors, Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa, were in attendance. A special thank you to Heidie-Mari Middel and Vanessa Richardson for their continued support and for demonstrating Kyocera’s commitment to youth development and the nurturing of future industry talent.’
Roger Cook, Printing SA’s Central Chamber regional manager, said, ‘Our first Career Day of 2026 was a great success. A sincere thank you to our hosts at Novus Print, City Deep, for welcoming us and providing an insightful tour of your facility.’
‘Through this initiative, we had the opportunity to engage with 50 students, introducing them to the world of print and potentially inspiring future careers within our industry. We look forward to continuing to grow interest and build the next generation of talent in printing.’
