Kodak took home honors during the Green Printing in China 2011 Green Awards held on Sept. 2 at the China Science and Technology Hall in Beijing. At the ceremony, the KODAK PROSPER 1000 Press Platform received a ‘Green Equipment Award’ for its impressive environmental attributes including water-based ink, long-lasting printhead, and print on-demand option.
Sponsored by the largest printing technology research institute in China, the China Academy of Printing Technology, and the media group Keyin.cn, the Green Printing in China 2011 Green Awards are given to companies at the discretion of a panel of industry experts.
The Green Printing in China 2011 Green Awards featured eight major categories including, “Green Elite,” “Green Supplies,” “Green Printing,” “Green Equipment,” “Green Company,” “Special Recommendation,” “Most Popular in Internet,” and “Green Promotion.” Kodak was one of ten companies that received an award in the “Green Equipment” category, demonstrating the company’s continued commitment to improving sustainability in the printing industry.
The KODAK PROSPER 1000 Press Platform was selected for the ‘Green Equipment Award’ based on the following criteria:
¥ The KODAK PROSPER 1000 Press delivers high quality results using water-based ink. KODAK PROSPER Press Solutions use proprietary micro-milled pigment inks that provide outstanding permanence. With Kodak’s revolutionary Stream Inkjet Technology, the KODAK PROSPER Press Platform also recycles up to 95 percent of this ink in a continuous loop.
¥ The KODAK PROSPER 1000 Press reduces a printer’s need for maintenance by using a long-lasting printhead that can be refurbished rather than replaced. The KODAK PROSPER 1000 Press printhead is very durable and can be used up to 1,000 hours. While most printheads need to be replaced, Kodak printheads can be refurbished and offer a re-use rate as high as 95 percent.
¥ The KODAK PROSPER 1000 Press provides a sustainable business model based on print on-demand features. With the ability to print on-demand, publishers can reduce both waste and inventory levels associated with printing quantities that are too large.
The award-winning KODAK PROSPER 1000 Press Platform can print a variety of applications and offers a low total cost of ownership for run lengths up to 7,000. Averaging monthly page volumes of 90 million, the KODAK PROSPER 1000 PRESS is ideal for the book publishing industry and helps publishers enhance both supply chain efficiency as well as profitability.
‘Printers are always looking for ways to lessen their environmental impact and fortunately, the KODAK PROSPER Inkjet Printing System serves as a great example of Kodak’s commitment to developing products with more sustainable solutions. The KODAK PROSPER Press Platform delivers offset class productivity and increased efficiency to help meet the needs of printers. Kodak is a company focused on improving the environmental attributes of its entire portfolio and we are honored to be among the recipients recognised for the Green Awards,’ said Lois Lebegue, Vice-President of Commercial & Consumer Sales, Asia Pacific, Eastman Kodak Company.
As part of the activities associated with the Green Development Forum, the Green Printing in China 2011 Green Awards ceremony was organised in response to China’s growing movement toward greener printing.
