Kitty Mhlongo, Marketing Manager at Kemtek, writes that there is something fitting about an event celebrating women in print being full of women who aren’t afraid to put their own stamp on things. At the recent Printing SA Women in Print event, Kemtek’s Consumer Solutions team brought that idea to life with an HPRT photo and sticker printer activation.
The lesson: print doesn’t have to be big, industrial or complicated to land. Sometimes it just has to be fun. The activation gave attendees a way to turn moments from the day into something they could hold onto. Photos became stickers. Conversations became keepsakes. For a few minutes, print stopped being about machines and became, quite simply, about people.
That’s probably what makes events like this one matter. Print is changing fast. Technology has made it far easier to personalise, produce and share content in ways that used to demand more time, more equipment and more expertise. Compact photo and sticker printing is a small but telling example, opening doors for entrepreneurs, small businesses, events, gifting, retail and creative work.
For the Consumer Solutions team, the activation was never just about showing off a product. It was about showing what happens when technology is easy to use and genuinely enjoyable. And there was something quietly powerful about watching women from across the industry gather around a printer and walk away holding something they’d made themselves.
Women in Print has grown into a real platform for connection, leadership and fresh thinking across South Africa’s printing, packaging, signage and visual communications industries. This year marks its fifth anniversary, celebrating the women shaping where the industry goes next.
Kemtek isn’t done yet, either. The Consumer Solutions team will bring the HPRT experience to the Western Cape Women in Print event on 27 August 2026 at Race Coast in Cape Town, themed around women who reimagine.
Innovation doesn’t always mean making print bigger. Sometimes it just means making it more personal, and letting people put their own stamp on it.
